In 2017, I purchased Maurice, a bare hull in need of complete renovation. I spent three years building the sailboat of my dreams, learning trades I had no prior knowledge of: carpentry, electrician work, painting, mechanics, rigging, ...
I stopped counting the hours of work beyond four thousand hours...
My ambition was to take a solo trip around the world, before the project turned into a couple's project, and then a family project.
Having a young sailor on board disrupted the layout plans and the intended itinerary. Instead of completing the journey, I learned to rediscover the world through the eyes of a two-year-old child.
In short, the 'Maurice' project taught me to look at the world without trying to conquer it. And for a filmmaker, refining one's perspective is always enriching.
